Semy Siakimotu is of Niuean and Samoan descent. He graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Masters in Geographical Sciences.

Semy joined the PHAMA program in July 2015 as a Trade Facilitation Adviser based in Vanuatu and also working across the Solomon Islands. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in market access negotiations and biosecurity.

Prior to joining the PHAMA team, Semy worked in Plant Biosecurity at the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry for over 13 years where he assisted the Pacific Island Countries with biosecurity and technical market access issues.

Semy’s interests are in building strong and effective private-public partnerships in developing countries to ensure the government and the private sector work collaboratively to address key issues along the export pathway to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes for the agricultural sector.
