Cocoa Mircolot Export Workshop

With the rising demand for single origin chocolates that are traceable and have different flavor profiles, the term microlot has been adopted by the fine cacao and bean-to-bar sector.

And with the East Sepik province increasing cocoa production, cocoa growers from the region together with the Cocoa Board of Papua New Guinea organized several workshops on Microlot Export Licensing – a first of its kind in PNG.

Organized by the Cocoa Board and #PHAMAPlus Program, through the support of #PNGAusPartnership and #NewZealand, small cocoa cooperatives and farmer groups will learn about vital industry information on the cocoa microlot export licensing requirements.

In line with PNG’s cocoa strategy which is focused on supporting improved quality, growing specialty markets and access to niche markets by local businesses, the workshop provides small cocoa businesses an opportunity to learn from the experiences of importers and exporters of Pacific cocoa. The workshops were rolled out in Wewak, Lae, and Kokopo from the 8th to the 15th of March, 2022.
